Easter Triduum 2019

Maundy Thursday -18 April

11.30am Mass of Chrism, Lancaster Cathedral

All are welcome to this Mass. It will be the first, of course, presided over by Bishop Paul. During the Mass the priests renew their commitment to priestly service and the Holy Oils to be used in the Sacraments are blessed by the Bishop.

7pm Mass of the Lord’s Supper

Good Friday -19 April

10am Stations of the Cross (Confirmation Group taking part)

Churches Together- Good Friday Walks of Witness

Penrith: From the Tourist Information at 12noon to St Andrews for a Service.

Alston: From the Quaker Meeting House at 12noon.

3pm Celebration of the Lord’s Passion (Penrith & Alston)

Holy Saturday -20 April

12 noon Polish Community -Blessing of food

7pm The Easter Vigil Mass (No6pm Mass at Alston on 20 April)

We will begin this Solemn Liturgy with the Blessing of the New Fire in the area outside the Haydock Centre and the Rectory. During the Mass David and Jennifer Berry will be received into the full Communion of the Catholic Church. Please keep them in your prayers.

8.30am Mass

10.30am Mass

3.30pm Mass in Polish

4.00pm Mass at St. Wulstan’s, Alston

Please sign up as soon as possible for the various ministries required for our celebration of Holy Week and Easter. The sheets are on the table in the narthex for Readers, Welcomers, Minsters of Holy Communion and to help with refreshments after the Easter Vigil. The sheet for Altar Servers is in the sacristy. Easter Flowers collection (St Catherine’s) this Sunday, 7 April. People appreciate the opportunity to make a donation for the Easter Flowers in memory of a loved one. There are forms in the narthex to write down the names of those you wish to be remembered. The names will be displayed for Easter. Donations of greenery welcome - leave outside church 19 April.
