Work to install the Fire Exit Door started on Monday 13 May.
Work has been going really well on the project. Unofficially, the door is now available as an emergency exit, if this is required. However, care would need to be taken as the external landscaping has not yet been fully completed. Some instruction will be arranged in the near future so that everyone becomes familiar with the escape route. Internal plastering is yet to be completed, together with the associated fire alarm call point and emergency lighting.
The work is required following a Fire Risk Assessment, under the Parish’s Health & Safety Policy, in August 2017. Planning and Building Regulation applications have been approved by the Local Authority. Approval of the Lancaster Diocese Property Office was given in December 2018. The siting and design of the door was detailed by Graham Rae, a local conservation architect. The door has been manufactured by John Richardson and Sons. The contractor is Atkins & Little Stonemasons.
During the works, every effort is being made to minimise disruption and your understanding is appreciated.
