Bishop’s Ordination

Our Holy Father, Pope Francis, has named Canon Paul Swarbrick, at present Parish Priest of Christ the Good Shepherd, Workington and Harrington as the seventh Bishop of the Diocese of Lancaster. A native son of the Diocese of Lancaster, Bishop-elect Swarbrick comes to the office of bishop with considerable pastoral experience, having served since his ordination in a number of parishes in the Diocese as well as a long period of fifteen years as a fidei donum priest in the rural areas of the Diocese of Monze , Zambia.

We keep our Bishop-elect, Canon Paul Swarbrick, very much in our prayers. His own parishioners of Christ the Good Shepherd in Harrington and Workington have been asked to say an Our Father, Hail Mary and Glory Be for him each day leading up to his ordination. Perhaps we could all do the same.

His episcopal ordination will be in Lancaster Cathedral on Monday, 9th April at 11.30 a.m. We have four tickets so if you are interested in attending please let Fr. John know on Sunday. The Bishop-elect is keen for a broad age range so we shall take this into consideration when allocating the tickets.
