Penrith & Eden Refugee Support Network - Volunteers needed in Penrith to help with child care

Following on from the recent and well attended meeting in the Haydock Centre the group formed at that meeting has now been registered as a Support Network with Cumbria CVS with the following broad aims:

  • Being better informed and speaking well of refugees
  • Welcoming Syrian families to Cumbria
  • Exploring City of Sanctuary and other means to co-ordinate our solidarity with refugees and with others around the country and world.

On a practical level, volunteers are needed to help with the crèche which Barnardos are organising for the intensive Language classes ( ESOL) for the Syrian families in Penrith. These are on a Monday & Tuesday afternoons, as far as we are aware, in Penrith Children’s Centre. We are just awaiting a start date. Volunteers will be needed for the crèche while the parents at language class. If you are interested, please contact Jacquie Baccar, email: Jacquie.baccar@barnardos.org.uk or tel.
