I wish to say that I have been very grateful to Bishop Michael Campbell for granting me a long convalescence after my heart operation. I am well on the road to full recovery and am to return to the parish after the Feast of the Epiphany, that is on the 7th January.
However, it is with regret that I am to tell you that I am to retire as parish priest, and this to be effective from Thursday 1st March. I am sorry this is the case and to be leaving you. However, I can say that the Bishop is sending you a good priest, a Fr John Winstanley, who will have your true care at heart.
On a lighter note may I finish by saying that Fr John himself was a young parishioner of mine when I was parish priest at St Mary and St Michael’s, Garstang some little time ago.
Thank you. Fr Jerome
